SirDavis is an American rye whiskey created by the Moët Hennessy group.
This whisky is a tribute to Davis Hogue. He is the great-grandfather of the famous singer Beyoncé, whose real name is Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Her great-grandfather was not only a farmer, but also a whiskey smuggler in the American South.
To create this creation, Moët Hennessy drew on the experience of Dr. Bill Lumsden. An award-winning and respected master distiller in the spirits world, Dr. Bill Lumsden is particularly renowned for his work with the Glenmorangie and Ardbeg Scotch whisky brands.
Sir Davis is made from a mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. This combination is rather rare in the world of American whiskeys.
