Tres Hombres Barbados 2007 captain's choice is a molasses rum from Barbados, distilled in stills and columns. Richard Seale of the Foursquare distillery entrusted one of his rum-filled brandy casks to the sailors of the Tres Hombres. This cask travelled 5950 nautical miles before arriving in Amsterdam, where it was bottled. Distilled in 2007, it was aged for 13 years in its country of origin. It was then dynamically aged during a 6-month crossing.
Aging increases the contact between the barrel and the rum. It also ensures ideal oxygenation, and introduces iodine notes.
The artist who decorated the bottle is Lynx Guimond. He designed the boat's figurehead, and carved the magnificent woodwork on board.
