Twelve Nicaragua Jamaica 43.5°: Description and customer reviews

Twelve Nicaragua Jamaïque is a rum blended by the Aubrac distillery in Laguiole. Florent Caston, the cellar master, is also a whisky producer. He selected and imported barrels for additional maturation, before blending them to create this cuvée.

These molasses rums were distilled in iron stills for the Jamaica part (20% Clarendon and 25% Worthy Park), and in columns for the Nicaragua part (55% Flor de Caña).

Aging was partly tropical, and a slight sweetening was carried out, at a rate of 7 grams per liter.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, Jamaica dominates, as is often the case, with a deep, intense fruitiness that's unmistakable. However, it's not at all aggressive, even creamy, and moves peacefully from ripe exotic fruit to crushed strawberry.

With aeration, the exotic fruits make an unexpectedly pleasant marriage with a minty freshness. It's a combination that works wonders, making us follow the rum wherever it takes us, without resistance.

On the palate, the texture is very soft, almost creamy. This is followed by a confident but quiet build-up of very ripe exotic fruit. The latter are round and fatty, but have the good idea of also displaying a slightly sharper edge that gives them a little kick. This makes the mid-palate all the more delicious, with its hints of stone brandy, resin and almond.

The finish is warm and savory, giving an almost sweet impression in the length, which is accompanied by licorice for quite a while.

" Another very fine blend from Twelve, here playing on both balance and expressiveness... "
