A 1710 is a young distillery located on the Habitation Simon estate, created by Yves Assier de Pompignan, an entrepreneur from Martinique whose father passed on his passion for rum.

Why A1710? Because the family of the distillery's founder arrived in Martinique in 1710.

The still is made of copper, and old Cognac barrels are used for ageing.

The aged rums are currently sourced from other distilleries in Martinique and Guadeloupe, and matured in the A 1710 cellars. The white rum, meanwhile, is distilled on site from sugar cane harvested on a plot in Le François (not far from the distillery) and fermented at 22-23°C for a very long time (5 days) for a Martinican rum.
