A 1710
A 1710 is a young distillery located on the Habitation Simon estate, created by Yves Assier de Pompignan, an entrepreneur from Martinique whose father passed on his passion for rum.
Why A1710? Because the family of the distillery's founder arrived in Martinique in 1710.
The still is made of copper, and old Cognac barrels are used for ageing.
The old rums are currently coming from other Martinican and Guadeloupean distilleries and refined in the A 1710 cellars. The white rum is distilled on site from sugar cane harvested on a plot of land in Le François (not far from the distillery) and fermented at 22-23°C for a very long time (5 days) for a Martinican rum.
