Palma Mulata rum

Palma Mulata rum is a Cuban molasses rum produced at the Santa Fé distillery in Villa Clara, one of the distilleries that operated for Bacardi before their move to Puerto Rico. It is a light rum, a complex blend of rum "bases" of different ages and concentrations, made fromaguardientes (cane syrup brandies) and neutral sugarcane alcohol, all aged in 180-liter American white oak barrels.

The range starts with Añejo blanco, a very young rum that has rested only a few weeks in cask, and ends with Palma Mulata 15 ans. The latter offers a delicate, suave profile and a lovely, delicate complexity. Between the two extremes of the range, we find a 3-year-old, a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old which, like the white, are intended more for mixology. Read less
