Toucan

Toucan is a brand of agricultural rum from French Guiana, in the very north of South America. Taking advantage of the equatorial climate, the rum draws its essence from the fertile soil surrounded by lush forest.

The sugarcane field is located along the Maroni River, in the town of Saint-Laurent. It is operated by Guyana's only distillery, the rhumerie Saint-Maurice. The site also produces other brands for the local market, namely La Belle Cabresse (white rum) and La Cayennaise (aged rum).

Catherine Arnold, from Toulouse, had the idea of developing this refined rum for trendy bars. Its originality stems from the fact that freshly distilled white rum is shipped to Toulouse by container, where it is reduced with purified water and, for the flavored versions, macerated with Madagascar vanilla (Vaniliane) or with spices and wood from Guyana (Spicy).
