This white rum distilled from pure cane juice is produced by Maison Barbancourt. This is the Haitian Proof version which is not 40° but 55°.
This reference is made from "Madame Mevse" cane, a hybrid variety originally from Haiti.
Nico's tasting notes
The relatively light nose of this rum carries pale notes of confectionery and flowers, which if they take off with finesse, become fuller and fruitier as they gain altitude. Red fruits are the most prominent, with grenadine steadily gaining color.
With aeration, the grenadine syrup becomes increasingly milky, which also suits the red berries, which are abundantly perfumed in what now evokes a kind of yoghurt candy.
On the palate, it's more citrus than anything else, with a freshness and slight bitterness that would almost take us to the gin side of the spectrum.
The finish is lightly fruity, with candy-like bananas and a few pale strawberries, before concluding with dark berries with milky nuances.
"A rather light rum, whose power and delicate aromas will work very well in cocktails..."
