This 100% made in France whisky is a blend of 3 unpeated single malts, each from a different French distillery and aged between 3 and 8 years. Each distillery uses its own type of still.
After blending in the cellars of Les Bienheureux in Charente, the wine is finished in barrels that have previously been filled with prune d'ente brandies. Prune d'ente is the variety used to make prunes.
Florian's tasting notes
The colour is orange-gold. Numerous rapid tears line the glass.
On the nose, two dimensions:
1) a fresh plum liqueur -> direction Japan with Umeshu and, more classically, prune.
2) a discreet woodiness, accompanied by notes of malt, grist and citrus, reminding us that this is indeed a whisky.
On the palate, it's resolutely fruity and plum-like, no longer the liqueur of the nose, but more like eau de vie. What was supposed to be sweet is in fact dry and tender. Softly woody and herbaceous, the barley extends on the finish.
The medium-length finish is limited to plum brandy and malt.
"Interesting, the 43% doesn't cut it. The whisky spectrum is not totally overshadowed by the finish, which is nevertheless very present..."
