Caroni 1998 Balas Bhaggan Employees 4th release is a blend from a series that pays tribute to the employees of the legendary Trinidad distillery. Balas "Brigade" Bhaggan, immortalized by the late photographer Fredi Macarini, is featured on the label. Balas worked at the Caroni distillery for 14 years.
This molasses rum was column distilled in 1998. It is a "Heavy Rum", typical of the Caroni style. It was bottled in 2020, with no less than 22 years of tropical ageing behind it.
The blend was made from 6 casks selected at the Caroni Ceremony on April 12, 2019. For the occasion, Luca Gargano brought together 26 rum enthusiasts. They tasted the last remaining casks, and isolated the future single casks to be released.
The angels' share of this rum is over 80%, which explains why only 1158 bottles of this brut de fût were bottled.
