At Chichibu, the batches that bear the “On The Way” designation are used to experiment and perfect new processes. These will likely allow the distillery to develop a more mature whisky or to highlight a special expression of the craftsmanship and terroir that the house possesses.
This single malt is produced exclusively from ground malted barley. The distillery has been using this traditional process since 2008.
Here, it is a blend of different expressions aged from 9 to 15 years. For aging, we find ex-bourbon casks, sherry puncheon, mizunara hogshead, wine casks and quarter casks of chibidaru.
This edition is limited to 2400 copies.
