Demon's Share 12 ans is a blend of column-distilled molasses rums from Panama. "The demon's share" is a nod to the angels' share, the amount of rum that evaporates during maturation. It can also be seen as an allusion to the devil's share, an expression that designates the share of rum that is absorbed by the barrel during aging.
This rum is distilled by Bodegas de America, also responsible for Malecon rums. It has been aged for at least 12 years in American oak barrels that previously contained bourbon.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, a hint of vanilla and caramelized sweetness appears right from the start. This sweet film cracks, releasing melted citrus peel sprinkled with sweet spices like cinnamon.
With aeration, the vanilla adds another layer of deliciousness, lasciviously coating the citrus fruit before finally melting into a very suave syrup. The other sweet spices then settle in quietly, still in a very cozy atmosphere.
On the palate, the spices take control of the taste buds, becoming increasingly roasted as the rum progresses across the palate. Flavors of coffee, molasses and roasting come through, rounding and curling on the tongue thanks to a very round texture.
The finish is round and vanilla-like. Sweet citrus peel combines with spice to lightly tickle the palate.
"A great roundness for this rum with a gently spicy, roasted character..."

An orange note, a touch of vanilla and a finish with a hint of cinnamon.
Quite surprising, very fragrant, in the spirit of dom papa in its approach to the palate.
A fine discovery
