Proud of its origins, Eddu Brocéliande whisky is Breton right down to the barrel.
Made at the Menhirs distillery in Finistère, Eddu is the only buckwheat whisky. Eddu Brocéliande is double-distilled in a still heated over an open fire. It is then aged for 5 years in ex-Cognac casks before completing its maturation in new oak barrels from the Brocéliande forest. The distillery was able to benefit from these barrels thanks to a partnership between the ONF and the VICARD cooperage.

A whisky that deserves to be discovered because it really is off the beaten track, with a fine balance on the palate and a respectable finish.

On the nose 👃🏻: at first glance, we perceive a rather fine fruitiness, white grapes, fermented apple juice, as well as lighter, well-integrated floral notes. Digging a little deeper, we find that touch of buckwheat. I note a hint of vanilla, with dry oak and pepper that become more pronounced with aeration.
On the palate 👅: it's relatively round, buckwheat expresses itself enormously here. With pepper and old oak that's quite dry and intense too. The spices are more expressive overall than on the nose. There's also a hint of nutmeg, with the fruitiness now taking a back seat. This trend is confirmed on subsequent sips, pepper/muscle/oakwood, underneath a slightly dusty edge.
The finish is moderately long, even a little short. It brings back vanilla and fruitiness but it's mostly pepper with that buckwheat that dominates, as well as a more floral touch in the background 👌
Verdict ⚡️: this is a pleasant and interesting whisky to taste. To be honest, I wouldn't have minded something a little more powerful on the palate in terms of aroma, but it's more of a light whisky. Which is obviously a matter of taste 😉. In any case, it's an atypical product that I invite you to discover 👍
