The name "El Ron Prohibido" ("forbidden rum" in Spanish) comes from the fact that Mexican rum was banned in Spain in the 18th century by King Felipe V.
The XO Single Barrel cuvée presented here is made from sugar cane grown in the Vera Cruz region.
Once distilled, the rum is aged in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels, as well as in old muté wine barrels.
