HSE Golden Mist France 49.5°: Description and customer reviews

HSE Brume Dorée France is an agricultural rum from Martinique distilled in 2014 , then aged for 10 years in French oak barrels.

It was aged in casks that underwent a Brume toasting process, a specific technique involving the injection of steam during the toasting phase. This process allows for the development of particularly subtle aromatic markers while limiting the astringency that a dry and intense toasting can sometimes produce.

Bottled at cask strength at 49.5% ABV

Jérémie's tasting notes

On the nose: the opening reveals sweet notes of vanilla and a fleeting hint of banana, quickly joined by aromas of precious woods, cloves, and cooked sugarcane. After a few moments of aeration, touches of candied orange and a light aniseed freshness emerge. Finally, the bouquet evolves towards delicate notes of tanned leather.

On the palate: the attack is direct, dominated by oak and herbaceous notes of sugarcane. The tannins, slightly integrated, provide a beautiful structure. The sugarcane then reveals peppery nuances that intertwine with roasted oak. Gradually, citrus notes emerge, enveloped in a gentle touch of honey. Cocoa and spices, with clove at the forefront, gain intensity, accompanied by hints of nuts.

The finish: quite long, it prolongs the notes of lemon, cane and wood in a harmonious whole, where the woodiness brings structure and persistence.
