Aged in oak barrels for three years, HSE VO is an old rum that reflects the ancestral traditions of Martinique and the savoir-faire of Habitation Saint-Étienne. The long maturation period gives the cuvée a fine balance.
In 2003, HSE VO was awarded the silver medal at the Concours Général de Paris.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, HSE VO offers a fine, mellow woodiness. Accompanied by vegetal notes and curry spices, it immediately places us in the family of Martinique agricultural rums. We have a rather fresh honey, not the deep, dark kind, but rather a honey with floral notes that would have retained all its vegetal origin. The woodiness becomes more straightforward, whiter and newer, while the tannins mellow. Green apple ensures continuity of freshness.
As time goes by, the rum settles into something even more typical, with a woodiness reminiscent of a cigar box. Wood and spice were the first part of the story, and now comes the headliner: noble cane juice accompanied by its orchestra of ripe exotic fruits.
The score remains the same on the palate, with the cane carried by the melted tannins of a slightly damp wood. Stealthy smokiness opens up to spices, followed by ripe exotic fruit, past its prime, like a persimmon.
The sensation of damp woodiness continues through to the finish.
"With its small three-year age, this rum from Martinique is a good example of the island's savoir-faire..."

It's been a while since I've tasted HSE, and I must admit I wasn't disappointed. Such great flavor for a real rum with no additions, and for this price, I recommend it.

On the nose, this HSE VO is of medium intensity. A spicy (cinnamon, cloves), gingerbread nose. A woody note structures the nose of this HSE.
3 years old! There's already a lot going on in this rum.
On the palate, this is a fairly sweet, honeyed rum, with magnificent balance. Medium intensity. Elegant woodiness. Notes of spice, orange and fruit.
Spicy finish. Medium-long.
What can I say, I want to make myself a Ti'vieux with this rum every night.
An excellent agricultural rum for beginners. Smooth, delicious and elegant. Excellent value for money.
4.5/5 Pour le rapport qualité prix
5/5 En Ti'vieux
3.75/5 Pure (it lacks the intensity for a higher score, but for a 3-year-old it's already incredible).
