Karukera Gold is an amber rum. It has been aged for a short time, but long enough to produce a well-balanced, intense rum.
It is particularly suitable for making ti' vieux or elaborate cocktails.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is initially rather dry, with a frank, new woodiness. Bitter lemon provides the citrus component. Cane, or more precisely its fiber, is at the heart of it all. The nose is lively and spicy, with pepper and ginger. On the floral side, we're onto something very compelling, geranium-like. We're also in a forest atmosphere, with wood essences and leaves on the ground.
No major change on aeration, with cane dominating the aromatic profile. If there were a slight evolution, it would be towards vanilla and other sweet spices. The vegetal side is also a little more subdued than the cane.
On the palate, it's hard to tell whether you're dealing with cane fiber or woodiness - the two are now intertwined. Of course, the cane and its trusty pepper are also present, and all this goes down smoothly.
The finish is on spices and cane.
