This 8-year-old rum comes from the Foursquare distillery on the island of Barbados.
It was selected by Les Frères de la Côte. This bottler uses sailing transport to minimize the carbon footprint of the products it markets. It was aboard the motorless sailing boat Tres Hombres that this rum crossed the Atlantic.
This cuvée is a blend of rums distilled from molasses in column and repasse stills.
It was aged for 8 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks in the tropics. The rum was then transferred to 2 barrels containing PX (Pedro Ximenez) for a dynamic 4-month ageing period aboard the brigantine.
On arrival in France, the rum was rested and matured for a further 9 months in the Forézien cellar.
These two barrels produced 900 bottles worldwide. They were bottled without alcohol reduction in February 2023.
