The oranges and lemons used to make Cédric Brément's rhum arrangé are certified organic and hand-picked when fully ripe from a Spanish Unesco nature reserve. This wild area enjoys an exceptional location between the sea and the mountains, giving the citrus fruits that grow there a unique flavor.
Unlike the usual "Rhums de Ced", this composition uses molasses rum rather than rhum agricole. More precisely, it's a blend of 2 molasses rums, both also 100% organic.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, citrus fruit unsurprisingly shines through and takes control. Orange and lemon have a field day, as in a lemonade enhanced with ripe citrus. The sugar balances the acidity, and the zest is well measured, delivering just the right amount of bitterness. Quite a powerful nose, true to the menu.
The palate isn't as sweet as you'd expect, nor too bitter either. The balance is brilliantly struck, which is becoming a habit with Ced. The rum is tasty, reminiscent of the famous spritz or a slightly bitter, vegetal Italian aperitif. The orange zest is palpable, followed by lemon zest and a hint of spices like cinnamon.
