Maca Spiced Rum PX Finish is a spiced rum created by French mixologist Michaël Landart, owner of Maria Loca. The desire to reconcile discerning connoisseurs, bartenders and the general public is also at the origin of this product. On a base of rum from Mauritius (Gray's distillery), 5 fresh spices are added and finely macerated.
This version spent 16 months in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, a very sweet, gourmet Spanish mutated wine.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, there's a lovely bouquet of spices, led by cinnamon. Tonka bean, clove, nutmeg and coffee envelop the palate. This is a rum with substance: it's easy to imagine a Christmas gingerbread. Time adds strength and intensity to this spicy handful.
On the palate, the rum is much less sweet than you might expect. On the contrary, it's very fluid, except that the barrel and spices cling lightly to the taste buds with their tannins. The spice waltz is entirely in keeping with the promise of the nose, and goes even further, taking us towards prunes in brandy.
"A generously spiced and harmoniously sweet spiced, which is remarkable in this category..."

Discovered at a wine shop, despite being pro West Indian rum, it was a great surprise and a real "coup de coeur"!
