Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 is considered the flagship of the Dominican distillery. Heir to the Cuban distillation and ageing traditions, it has long been nicknamed "the cognac of rums". Its maturation in the solera system for 15 years gives it a very rich aroma and a smooth texture.
Because of its qualities, Matusalem Gran Reserva 15 was voted best rum in the world at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2007 and 2008).
Laurent's tasting note
Its colour is amber.
On the nose, we have vanilla, caramel and a very slight note of coffee.
On the palate, it is only slightly sweet and is mainly characterised by a caramel aroma and subtle woody touches.
The finish is medium long, again with caramel and vanilla flavours.

A very good rum, which still deserves its title of best rum in the world. A sure value in old rums.

To be savoured with time, on a terrace at sunset or in the evening by the fire

It's a good rum, in the diplomatico trend I think. Sweet and tasty, caramelised and vanilla flavoured, simple.

A rum from Cuba (so already a sign of quality), which will be as good to drink neat as for cocktails, even if it is a bit expensive for cocktails :D
