Millonario 10 Aniversario Reserva is a blend of 2/3 rums aged in white oak barrels containing bourbon (Heaven Hill distillery - Kentucky) and 1/3 rums aged for 10 years in barrels containing sherry.
Nico's tasting note
In short: round - sweet spices - wood - roasting - pastry
The nose is immediately flattering and vanilla. One expects a very round and sweet rum. The emphasis is more on sweetness than complexity. The caramel, born from a cane sugar syrup, is quite thick, the toasting of the cask has brought some nuts which roll in this caramel.
With aeration, the toasting becomes more and more prominent, the nuts themselves have a roasted aspect, even frankly grilled. The toasting turns to charring when the dusty and dry side of the coal is detected. In the distance, a few fruits in brandy recall the original white rum.
The mouth is very round and smooth. Yet it is light and does not overwhelm the palate with powerful aromas. The vanilla and caramelised nuts are measured and the texture is decidedly flattering. This is an easy drinking rum, melting like a soft caramel.
The finish goes even further and indulges in a pastry register made of butterscotch.
"An extremely flattering and rounded rum, a caramel sauce for the gourmands..."

The simple yet effective millonario. The incomparable flavours that have made the brand so successful are now available in a softer, easier to drink version. You can even afford to make high-end cocktails with this treasure. What more could you ask for?
