Since 2004, each vintage of Port Charlotte Islay Barley reflects the unique growing and harvesting conditions of the year, with production limited to the amount of barley harvested on the island of Islay .
The 2014 version was made from Concerto variety barley , grown on eight local farms (Cruach, Craigens, Island, Dunlossit, Coull, Rockside, Sunderland and Mulindry).
This finely peated single malt (40 ppm) has aged for 7 years in different casks: 84% in first-fill bourbon casks , 8% in second-fill virgin oak casks , and 8% in second -fill ex- French Bordeaux wine casks.
The final blend thus expresses the aromatic richness typical of Port Charlotte, while capturing the uniqueness of locally grown barley.
