Renegade Pre-Cask Westerhall Column Still is a pure sugarcane juice rum from the island of Grenada. It is produced in column at the Renegade distillery created by Mark Reynier, who is also the founder of Waterford.
The brand's aim is to highlight the island's terroir and the know-how of local producers, while being perfectly transparent about production methods.
The sugar cane variety used is called "Clean Ester", which is rich in sucrose and grows on land known as Old River. The plantations lie between the coastal road and the swampy mangroves of Westerhall Bay, not far from the ruins of the distillery of the same name. The soils here retain moisture easily. They are also enriched by the heritage of coconut and cocoa trees. This makes the land fertile and verdant, ideal for growing sugar cane.
