This traditional molasses rum has been selected and blended by British merchant Berry Bros.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a rum typical of the English tradition, full-bodied, fruity and pastry-like. The resinous plants are mellow, tender and candied. The aroma is powerful, full-bodied in the sense that the flavors are heavy and underlined by a hint of solvent and copper. Aeration pushes the pastry side, and we fall gently onto a mattress of marzipan, brandied stone fruit and dried banana.
The palate is very forgiving. Although it's the fuller-bodied, coppery notes that show up first, the touch is very soft and mellow. The flavors are then in tune with one another, and we find these pastry notes, without excessive seduction, with a rather fair gourmandise.
The finish shows some burnt notes, with quince paste and a touch of tar.
"A fine concentrate of Saint Lucia, with powerful aromas and a very rounded feel..."
