Nico's tasting notes
The nose develops a vegetal and fruity side that takes us to the brandy side, or at least brings us closer to something vinous like grappa. One also thinks of a young Armagnac, with notes of almond and candied fruit beginning to emerge.
Airing continues to take us into this hybrid universe, where encaustic-waxed wood lends an elegant touch and an antique cachet. As for the exotic, it transpires through sweet spices and tropical wood essences imbued with incense smoke.
On the palate, we continue to navigate between different spirits, with calvados now clearly in mind. The oxidized apple spirit combines with toasted wood and a certain tariness to bring us to the land of whisky, and ultimately rum. The peppery freshness of the distillate remains quite lively, and once again we can't help but think of a blanche d'armagnac, as well as a light rum made from pure cane juice.
The finish is slightly smoky and herbal, like a whisky. It's also pastry-like, with a handful of lingering pits.
"A rum with a hybrid profile that takes us on a journey towards diverse spiritual horizons..."
