Nico's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is very fruity, with a lovely sweet peach as the flagship. It's reminiscent of grenadine syrup, sweet white wine or sweet rosé wine. The fruit continues in succession, always sweet and juicy, rather like fruit in syrup. We have a famous mix of pineapple, mango and pear. On the fresh fruit side, there's citrus, banana and that ripe peach. We catch a glimpse of a more candied side, with thick vanilla, before thinking again of wine, more of a primeur this time.
As you spread the rum on the sides of the glass, a banana in the form of a bonbon appears. This candy is also composed of a rather enticing pepper/cherry syrup. The notes of kernel and marzipan that follow reinforce the sweetness and mellowness.
The attack on the palate is dominated by that famous banana candy, and is quite striking. The floral, heady notes that follow are equally compelling. Add to this a thick red fruit juice and cherry, and you've got a mouthful of texture and consistency. A touch of saltiness provides a timid contrast, but above all prolongs the experience.
On the finish, we have a surprising combination of green apple and caramel, the apple being a remnant of all the fruitiness we've encountered so far, and the caramel a more classic, wiser signature.
