Tamdhu Batch Strength Batch IV is a Scottish single malt from the Speyside region. It is the fourth edition in the Tamdhu cask strength series.
It was aged in American and French oak barrels containing oloroso sherry. It was bottled without reduction, without colouring, and without cold filtration.
Florian's tasting note
The dress is amber gold. Many tears, fine and fast.
The nose is massive, powerful, on sherry and orange, with a nice dose of caramel and plum. A pleasant nutty aftertaste makes you want to try it. A few drops of water will calm its ardour and open the door to cooked pear, cinnamon and sultanas.
Powerful opening in the mouth, full on sherry; cocoa, hazelnut with toasted almond and vanilla. Some dried fruit. Orange peel and old wood have a nice place. The finish reveals leather and tobacco. A small amount of water will reveal white fruits and prune.
Long finish of walnut, honeyed toast and tobacco.
"An original whisky. Powerful and complex. Very rich aromatic palette. Tamdhu in raw cask, it works..."
