Our tasting note from Thomas
The nose immediately reveals white fruit compotes and a hint of slivered almonds. Then other dried fruits make their appearance, with hazelnuts dominating. We then notice a note halfway between green wood and sugarcane. On the whole, this first approach is gentle, with a little vegetal compensation.
Aeration reveals hints of marron glacé and porridge.
The palate is smooth and consistent with the nose. We start with vanilla applesauce, quickly complemented by fresh almonds. Hazelnuts and cereals take center stage. Finally, cut grass and sugarcane aromas provide a welcome bitterness. The result is a sweet patina without going overboard.
The finish is full of tranquility. We move from white fruit to malt to herbaceous notes with ease. Flavors of sugarcane, wood and fruit remain on the palate.
" An Irish whiskey whose classic fruitiness is flattering but not nauseating, thanks toslightly bitter complementary flavors ..."
