This top-of-the-range, pure agave tequila is produced in Mexico's venerable El Llano distillery, opened in 1900.
Distillation takes place in iron stills.
Tasting notes from Thomas
The nose is surprisingly temperamental for only 38%. Indeed, its expression is rather lively, with fresh agave, cream spiked with pepper and a few drops of lemon juice. Gradually, flowers appear (honeysuckle, lily) with a slight return of pineapple and sweet spices. With great clarity, this nose presents agave in a sober but effective way.
The palate is silky, moderately full-bodied but well controlled. The vegetal sphere is much fresher, with menthol coating the agave. The citrus zest is slightly bitter, in keeping with the vegetation. Pepper and salt complete the picture, as limpid as ever. A hint of licorice and cinnamon finally appear.
The finish is tender, with generous spice development. Menthol, fresh herbs and a few grains of salt round out the smooth finish.
" A tequila that playfully immerses us in the world of agaves...".
