English Harbour
The English Harbour rum brand is owned by Antigua Distillery Limited, a company with a distillery based in Antigua, a small Caribbean island.
This distillery, built in 1933, initially housed a 4-column Savalle copper still from France.
In 1991, this still was replaced by another, this time from England (made by John Dore & Co., but still in copper), originally with 3 columns, to which 2 further columns were added on arrival.
The distillery is adamant that these columns remain entirely in copper, as the interaction between this metal and the alcohol, more so than with stainless steel, results in a rum that, as it ages, gains in roundness. Read less
