Issan
With a lot of passion and a copper still made in Europe for the occasion, a Frenchman set about creating a distillery ex nihilo in the middle of a region of Thailand - Isan - that grows abundant rice and sugar cane.
Paradoxically, only two rums are produced - and only recently - by the world's 4th largest sugarcane producer: Issan and Chalong Bay, both successfully created by French entrepreneurs.
Sustainable development and fair trade are at the heart of this rum's production process: no more than 5 kilometers separate the production of the cane used for Issan and the distillery. In addition, the harvest is carried out exclusively by hand by local farmers, to whom the company offers medical cover, for example.
In addition to this first white rum, Issan also plans to produce a fleur de canne and a cœur de chauffe, as well as aged rums. Read less
