Following the deserved success of the1st batch, Issan Thai rum is releasing a second batch from the 2016 sugarcane harvest.
The red cane harvested on Issan plantations is completely peeled by hand before the juice is extracted.
After distillation in a pot still, which extracts a wide range of aromas, the rum is refined for 12 months before being bottled without additives or filtration.
Only 1,200 bottles are available for the whole of Europe.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a lovely, mellow, natural cane. Totally balanced, the rum doesn't attack for a second, it's immediately available. A few citrus notes, a little pepper, but above all this soft, velvety vegetal, irresistible.
A quick turn of the glass, and you're in for an exotic whirlwind of intense, powerful fruit. The cane is as tender as ever, but now even richer.
On the palate, the attack is round and as mellow as could be expected. The cane aromas are quite intense, much more peppery than on the nose, for a powerful aroma. A little bitterness of lime zest takes us to a drier, even slightly smoky side. The sensation is fresh and vegetal.
The finish is simply a snapshot of fresh, herbal sugarcane, peppery and finely acidic.

Compared with the 2015 vintage, which was already very successful, this vintage is rounder and more open from the outset. It also offers riper fruit, whereas the previous vintage was more lemony.
