Wolfburn: a special location

Wolfburn is located in Thurso in the Highlands of Scotland.
In fact, it is the most northerly distillery in the British Mainland. Since its opening, this title has been taken from the Pulteney distillery.

Surprisingly, this is not a fertile location for whisky production. In fact, there hasn't been a distillery in the area for over 150 years.

Wolfburn
was born in 2012 under the aegis ofAurora Brewing, a regional consortium. In keeping with its past, the new distillery was built just a stone's throw from the last distillery in operation. Its discontinuous production lasted from 1821 to the 1850s.

Wolfburn: a young and heterogeneous production

Wolfburn began distilling in 2013. It uses long fermentation, mainly bourbon barrels and offers lightly peated versions.

Their range is made up of recurring editions. These include Northland, aged in small American casks; Aurora, a blend of bourbon and sherry casks; Morven , a blend of bourbon and small American casks; and Langskip, aged in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at high proof.

Despite its youth, Wolfburn also offers some rarer editions. The Kylver series, inspired by the Viking runic alphabet, offers the opportunity to discover more original maturations.
Finally, the Small Batch series brings together whiskies lightly peated in small first-fill bourbon casks. These small batches are then represented by a number: n°128, n°270, n°375... Read more
