Bally Blanc 50°: Description and customer reviews

Bally Blanc 50° is an agricultural rum bearing the AOC Martinique label. This means it meets all the conditions of this strict specification, and is recognized as a worthy representative of Martinique rums.

It was distilled in Sainte-Marie, on the Saint-James site. A column is dedicated to it, under the supervision of oenologist Marc Sassier.

It's a round, smooth rum, also known as "Bally impérial".

It was awarded a gold medal at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris in 2011 and 2019.

Nico's tasting notes

At first, the nose is rather lively and dry, with fresh, vegetal cane giving off herbaceous notes. This cane, however, seems to quickly become candied, showing a sweet character.

With a little air, the heart of this rhum agricole comes to the fore, with notes of fermentation that hint at pickled vegetables, a hint of iodine, passed aromatics and a pinch of pepper.

The palate is very round on the attack, with pure sugarcane flavors that spread gently across the palate. The rum is vegetal on the mid-palate, and even frankly herbaceous, then after a hint of pepper, returns to deeper, iodized aromas.

The finish is drier, with peppery cane bark.

"A very pretty rhum agricole, well rounded yet very natural..."
