Barcelo Organic is the first rum in the Dominican Republic to be made from 100% organic cane. The cane is grown without fertilizers or pesticides, and is naturally irrigated. The rum is aged for at least 24 months. This must be done in new oak barrels to ensure satisfactory traceability. Attention to detail is total, as the bottle is accompanied by a case made from sugarcane plant fibers, printed with organic ink.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose is very light and floral, with a small layer of crunchy, barely blond caramel. Fine vegetal notes unfold once the toffee has been broken up, and one then touches the bark of the cane.
With a bit of air, greedy nuts coated in milk chocolate begin to add mellowness to the rum. We think of a handful of crunchy almonds, a shiny nougatine, but always in a light, ethereal register.
The palate is also light, and lightly caresses the taste buds with a veil of fresh vanilla. With a fine touch of roasting, the rum takes on a little more hold in the mid-palate, offering sweet flavors of almond nougat.
The finish is mellow and delicious, with a delicate vanilla note.
