The Classic Range is produced by 300-year-old independent bottler Berry Bros. & Rudd.
The aim of this range is to represent the different styles of Scotch whiskies (Islay, Speyside, Highlands...), and more recently, rums (Barbados, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Guatemala).
Berry Bros. brings us a rum distilled by Foursquare, Barbados' iconic distillery.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a rather serious rum, dominated by a very "clean" woodiness, toasted with precision. It unfurls notes of cocoa, roasted nuts and vanilla, always restrained and imperturbable.
Aeration opens up this profile a little, while allowing it to retain its fairly smooth character. A light coconut milk emerges from the oak barrel, carrying a soft wood fiber tinged with blond tobacco and vanilla.
On the palate, our coconut milk is fairly light, with a texture and flavor reminiscent of blanched, fatty nuts. As we flirt with a hint of putty, we branch off into a melting woodiness, imbued with milk chocolate.
The finish takes on slightly more roasted wood notes, while the sweet spices quietly fade from the tongue.
