Black Tears Cuban Spiced Rum is a spiced rum from the island of Cuba. It is made on a base of Cuban rum aged for 2 years in ex-bourbon barrels. An infusion with 100% natural spices is then applied. It contains coffee beans, cocoa and sweet peppers known as "aji dulce". All of this comes from the best Cuban soils, and no artificial flavours are added. There are only 9 grams of sugar per litre.
Its name, Black Tears, was inspired by the famous song Lagrimas Negras, a Cuban music standard composed in 1929.
Nico's tasting note
On the nose, spices gently unfold under the cut of candied orange peel. The sweet and bitter sides of citrus meet and balance each other to give way to vanilla, clove, nutmeg, with a hint of coffee bringing its share of roast and a fine touch of smoked paprika.
In the mouth, the texture is round but quite balanced. This light sweetness is simply there to balance the dark coffee notes that quickly come to attack the taste buds. These are thus pleasantly melted, and joined by other soft spices of which the vanilla is a part.
