Cana De Belem Cachaça Premium 39°: Description and customer reviews

Cana De Belem is an artisan cachaça produced in the Presidente Prudente region, west of the city of São Paulo.

The rich plant fragrances it releases are ideal for preparing traditional caipirinha, as well as many cocktail recipes.

Nico's tasting notes

In brief: fresh - lime zest - smoky vegetable - pepper - agave - round in the mouth

The nose is reminiscent of a rhum agricole à l'Antillaise. Rather fresh, it offers a mineral, peppery version of sugarcane. The lime zest and slight bitterness, however, have something very round about them, bringing a mellowness and tenderness typical of cachaça.
With a little aeration, the fatty liquid lets its ripe fruit shine through. The olive and slightly smoky vegetal notes are sometimes reminiscent of agave brandy. The pepper is quite powerful, running up the roots of the cane, carrying with it a dry, fragrant earthiness.

The palate is lively and slightly smoky. It's natural and rustic, but not at all difficult. With its peppery, vegetal character, it could evoke Mezcal for a moment. The richness of the cachaça then spills over the palate, caressing the taste buds and numbing them slightly.

The finish is vegetal and candied, leaving a hint of licorice, like spicy, savory cane resin.

"A fresh, herbal version of cachaça, with an extremely mellow contrast on the palate..."
