Clément Canne Bleue vintage 2023 is presented here without a green edition representing the earth and vegetation of the Caribbean.
Like previous vintages, this is an AOC Martinique agricultural rum. It is single-varietal, and therefore 100% cane bleue.
It was made at the Simon distillery with cane harvested in 2023 during a particularly dry period.
Although there are 2 other bottle formats, red and yellow, the rum is the same in all 3 bottles!
We suggest you enjoy it on its own, as a ti-punch or in a cocktail.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose , we find a deeply vegetal and fermented rum, a distillate of character which does not point towards the stereotype of agricultural rum, which makes it all the more interesting. In the few ethereal flights caught on the first flight, there are some tangy treats.
Aeration delivers a more traditional sugar cane, always enriched with a few nuances of undergrowth, mushrooms, almost cereals (rice), always subtly, in small touches.
On the palate , we find the very singular character of this 2023 edition which turns to Japan and its rice or cane sugar brandies. Its typically earthy notes gradually rise towards an intense, solid cane, with peppery and even spicy bark.
The finish is garnished with citrus peels, whose bitterness maintains the freshness.
“A truly unique 2023 edition, which digs deep into fermented cane juice…”
ALAIN MARCUELLO
