Damoiseau Blanc Cuvée du distillateur 55°: Description and customer reviews

Damoiseau Blanc Cuvée du distillateur is a tribute to the elders who founded the brand in 1942. Roger Damoiseau, father and son, developed a unique style of agricultural rum, which has now been taken over by the third generation, who commemorate their 40th year of harvesting here.

This white agricultural rum is fermented and distilled from pure cane juice. It flows from the Creole column at 88% alcohol, then rests for 1 to 2 months in oak tuns. It is then stirred, aerated and slowly reduced to 55%.

Nico's tasting notes

The nose opens with ripe, mellow cane and oily notes of preserved lime. Despite this, the atmosphere remains rather light and floral, with geranium clinging to the nostrils and recalling more vegetal nuances.

With aeration, the vegetal side becomes stronger, but is just as candied. The ripe cane is impregnated with sweet pepper, and we imagine a tender fiber that we want to chew.

The palate is full of sweetness, with a hint of lime juice acidity to balance it out, like a ready-made ti'punch. The cane offers very natural, very simple flavors, for a clear, gourmet mouthfeel, without a hitch.

The finish is made up of candied vegetables, with a hint of chestnut.

"A very pretty Guadeloupean white rum, tasty, simply gourmand..."

You know what to expect, it's designed to be mixed with fruit juice, so there are no surprises.

This Damoiseau deserves to be better known; in my opinion, it could rival some Blanc Preniums. Quite good integration of the alcohol, a little meringue. I love it.
A good natural sweetness from the cane on the nose and palate.
If you take the plunge and try it, believe me, it's indisputable value for money.

I prefer it to the classic Damoiseau, which is very fragrant.
