This 25-year-old El Dorado vintage is a limited edition. It is a blend of rums distilled in various prestigious Demerara stills, and all casked in 1992.
Aging is entirely tropical.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose, we find the caramelized nuts typical of the Demerara rum tradition. The pecans are generously coated and generously roasted. They give off hints of coffee and black licorice.
Aeration takes us into deeper, more concentrated, fruitier territory. Exotic and non-exotic yellow fruits add a velvety touch to this powdery, toasty ambience. Mango rubs shoulders with peach, and apricot meets roasted pineapple. A slight vegetal imprint is also present, with dried aromatic herbs abounding in the sense of complexity and concentration.
The palate is very smooth and easy, yet offers a complex aromatic profile. A surprising woodiness greets us, humid and tropical, at the heart of which lies a concentration of ripe exotic fruit. Gentle roasting quickly takes over, with a sweet texture that effortlessly balances its more toasty leanings.
On the finish, roasted, caramelized pecans are at their peak, a typical profile of the region.
"A Demerara very representative of his style, with a strong bias towards roundness..."
