Nico's tasting notes
In brief: vanilla - caramel - woody - sweet - balanced - tobacco
The nose of this rum is simple but balanced. Vanilla and caramel are accompanied by heavier notes of exotic fruit. The woodiness is spicy, caramelized and a little sweet. The fruit, also sweet, approaches the vanilla to offer a velvety sweetness. The cane sugar syrup is spiced with cloves.
With a little aeration, the woodiness becomes clearer. The sugar balances and quickly softens this drier inclination. The nuts are soft, blanched, as if pruned. They are reminiscent of sweet almond or macadamia nut, as in a cake batter. With the slightly floral aspect that follows, we realize that rum is not as simple as it seems, and the weaving of aromas is rather interesting.
The palate is soft and balanced. Sweet vanilla perfumes the tobacco, and mild spices do the same with caramel. The woodiness is well-seasoned and rounded, with pepper and honey. The rum then melts into quince and apple compote.
On the finish, the rum simply fades into notes of vanilla, tobacco and wood.
"This blend manages to liven up and make pleasant a rather simple rum, but without any false notes..."
