Ferroni Brut de Fût France Equatoriale is a pure cane juice rum produced at the Rhums Saint Maurice distillery. This company also produces rum for its own "La Belle Cabresse" brand.
This rum is aged in French oak barrels, including 6 months in new barrels. All the aging was carried out in Provence, in a Mediterranean climate. Summers are hotter than in the Caribbean and also drier, while winters are cold and thermal amplitudes are greater in the Mediterranean.
Bottling was carried out in Aubagne, at Château des Creissauds, without reducing the degree.
Nico's tasting notes
At first, the nose is relatively light, as the rather high degree of this rum means that it needs a few moments to begin to reveal itself. The first notes that come to mind are fruity and a little tart, and the cane juice begins to flow from its source.
With aeration, the orchard takes shape in the glass, with pears, quinces, peaches and white flowers. Cane juice rolled in light pepper becomes increasingly patinated as the rum rests.
The palate focuses on cane-sugar candy, with alcohol lifting a few floral and herbaceous notes that cling to the four corners of the palate. Peppery bagasse and slightly bitter lime zest mark a resolutely agricultural profile, while the rum continues to assert its strong character.
The finish is spicy and herbaceous, with green cane juice drying on the tongue.
"An uncompromising agricultural rum..."
