Flor De Cana 20 ans 130th anniversary 45°: Description and customer reviews

Flor De Cana 20 ans 130th anniversary is a molasses rum produced by a distillery located at the foot of the San Cristobal volcano, in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. Flor De Cana is one of the few rums in the world to be certified Carbon Neutral and Fair Trade.

Presented in a beautiful decanter, this 130th anniversary edition pays tribute to the family estate founded in 1890 by Alfredo Fransisco Pellas Canessa. It is a blend of specially selected rums aged for two decades in small ex-bourbon oak casks.

Nico's tasting notes

On the nose, the rum evokes a crunchy nougatine, full of just-roasted nuts covered in vanilla caramel. An elegant woodiness accompanies these aromas, like a cigar box or a drawer of fine spices.

With aeration, the roast takes over, with more advanced notes of toasted wood and a hint of charcoal, as well as dark caramel.

On the palate, spices seize the palate in a roasted, almost mineral, yet spicy rush. It's a rather light rum at this point, which evaporates leaving a strong spicy imprint. The woodiness is still elegant, though completely charred. It then exhales rich notes of coffee and molasses.

On the finish, vanilla and toasty oak remain, softening the whole.

"An intense yet elegant expression of the house's roasted style..."
