Havana Club Añejo Especial is a double-aged amber rum. Incorporating vintages of up to five years, this rum, blended under the direction of the distillery's cellar master, also includes young rums, bringing together the characteristics of white and aged rums. Strength and lightness come together in the same cuvée.
This rum is perfect for making the authentic Cuba Libre cocktail.
Nico's tasting notes
In brief: light - caramel - vanilla - toasted wood
The nose is light, with caramel and toasted wood. Nuts are well roasted and even very toasted. Coffee, walnuts and dark caramel are sprinkled with licorice molasses. An intriguing and surprising aroma is that of a kind of smoked cereal.
When the rum is aired a little, it reveals a rather sweet heart, like a red fruit bonbon with floral accents.
The palate is soft, with the roundness of vanilla. The rum rises in intensity with wood and caramel, then settles on a lighter, toasty woodiness. The texture is rather sweet.
The finish is logically vanilla, caramelized and sweet.
"The profile of this rum is pretty straightforward, it will be more suited to cocktails..."
