HSE Blanc 40° is an AOC Martinique agricultural rum, from the Simon distillery. It is made from fresh sugar cane juice and distilled in a Creole column. White rums from Martinique typically have an alcohol content of 50 or 55 (or even 62 for the local market). This rum has been further reduced, to be able to be used in various preparations of punches, cocktails, or even in cooking.
Nico's tasting notes
The nose opens with a candied cane still impregnated with its rich, oily earth. Sweet, lemony scents seem to run down its stem, a rich, fragrant juice running from bottom to top.
Aeration reveals a candy cane, a confection wrapped in a small bagasse packet. The pepper is candied too, giving the impression of being completely melted and even sweetened.
The palate is lively enough to imprint authentic cane flavors on the palate. At the same time, it offers a rather oily texture that removes any aggressiveness, allowing you to enjoy the pepper and cane sugar aromas that line your taste buds.
The finish is light, and the relatively low alcohol content lends a certain restraint to this beautifully aromatic rum.
"A lovely rhum agricole that will go down well in cocktails..."
