JM Millésime 2013 brut de cask is a 9-year-old agricultural rum which is distilled and aged in Fonds-Préville.
Aged in April 2014 in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, it was bottled in July 2023.
This rum is barrel strength therefore without reduction of the titration before bottling and without any addition of any kind. As with all other JM vintages, each bottle is numbered.
Nico's tasting notes
On the nose , the rum is immediately harmonious and integrated; it presents itself with a mature and complex profile, quite accomplished. This subtle perfume is composed of wood, exotic spices, dried fruits spiked with pepper and cloves.
The aeration highlights a patinated oak, full of pear juice. One has the feeling that one could wring it to collect this fresh juice, thereby recovering the cane juice.
The palate is sweet and spicy above all. The fine grain of the oak passes a few ribbons of silky pepper over the taste buds, then a little acidity made of tannins and cane juice maintains the intensity in the middle of the palate. The vesou is naturally accompanied by a few lime peels, or even kaffir lime.
The finish is very smooth and fluid; the peppercorn clings and encourages a few whiffs of toasted and caramelized wood.
“A very pretty composition around oak and spices…”
