JM VO Terroir Volcanique is an aged agricultural rum from Martinique.
It is the result of a blend of rums aged for at least three years in new American oak barrels and subjected to two distinct types of toasting:
- intense" heating
- extreme" heating.
With this cuvée, the JM distillery located on the slopes of Mont Pelée offers us the very essence of its know-how and volcanic terroir.
Yoann's tasting notes
The nose of this rum is elegant and quite sweet. It starts in a finely spicy register with cinnamon and especially fatty vanilla coated with honey. A young wood that is slightly dried and toasted is part of it. The empyreumatic notes are present.
With aeration, the nose of this rum gives off a fresh and almost fruity side. Notes of blond tobacco are discreet but are still present.
The mouth is quite fat and the rum slides over the palate with ease. We are taken aback by a fruity register that remained discreet on the nose. The tropical fruits are juicy and well ripe. The vanilla present on the nose is here sprinkled with nutmeg and cinnamon. The woodiness is discreet, as are the toasted notes that remain present all the same.
The finish of this rum is rather pleasant and remains on dried fruits. The nutmeg marks the palate for a while.
