It is from the blue cane that grows on the estate of the Marquisate of Sainte-Marie that the white agricultural rum of the Karukera brand is made. Winning the Gold medal at the 2014 edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, this premium vintage is 50°.
All the processes involved in making Rhum Blanc Agricole Karukera, from distillation to ageing, take place entirely on the estate, giving the cuvée the benefit of Guadeloupe's terroir and sunshine. Connoisseurs appreciate its finesse and complex aromas.
Laurent's tasting notes
Its color is translucent.
On the nose, sugarcane dominates; we're halfway between a gourmet cane and a more herbal cane, which is actually quite rare. Then come notes of lemon (lemon and lime) and pepper. The vegetal impression tends to increase.
On the palate, the attack is relatively smooth and the alcohol is discreet, even more so than on the nose. The cane is again at the center of the experience, still at the gourmet/vegetal intersection. Pepper also makes an appearance, or rather its reappearance when the rum is held in the mouth for a few seconds.
The finish, too, is dominated by sugarcane. A discreet sensation of sweetness remains. As the intensity fades, a note of lemony cane accompanies us for a few minutes, for an ultimately relatively long finish.
